With more than 250 attendees registered, the Greater Toronto Hotel Association (GTHA) gathered members at the Delta Toronto for its 2026 Mini-Summit and Annual General Meeting, pairing an afternoon of industry programming with a networking reception.
GTHA President and CEO Sara Anghel opened the afternoon, followed by a welcome from Delta Toronto Director of Operations Patrick Lernihan. Destination Toronto President and CEO Andrew Weir and Visit Mississauga President and CEO Victoria Clarke each took the podium to introduce speakers throughout the program.
Returning keynote speaker Jamie Mason Cohen led off with a session on mentorship culture, drawing on his work with high-performing teams to explore how hotel leaders can build the conditions that empower employees to grow into leaders and that make people choose to stay.
Dean Correia of Correia Security Resources followed with a session on protecting people and safeguarding assets – a topic shaped directly by member survey priorities. Correia covered workplace violence, theft, and human trafficking, offering practical, hotel-relevant guidance on prevention, response, and the importance of treating front-line staff as a hotel’s most valuable asset.
The afternoon’s industry data perspective came from Natacha Pouzin, Sales Executive at STR, and Stan Ivankovic, Vice President of Travel & Real Estate at Environics Analytics. Pouzin provided a hotel performance update spanning Canada, Ontario, and the Greater Toronto market, including an early look at the FIFA World Cup 2026™ booking picture. Ivankovic followed with a demand-side perspective on the Toronto travel landscape, covering visitor trends across domestic, U.S., and international source markets, the implications of new air service from Billy Bishop, and the broader macroeconomic forces shaping the year ahead.
The afternoon closed with a networking reception and exhibitor marketplace featuring 20 industry partners, supported by Gold Level sponsors Delta Toronto, Destination Toronto, Visit Mississauga, Encore, Insuranceland, and Smart Serve, alongside coffee break sponsor Amano and networking sponsor P&G Pro.
