Each month, we’re proud to highlight the incredible individuals who bring warmth, dedication, and excellence to the Greater Toronto Area’s hospitality community. This November, we’re celebrating two inspiring professionals whose passion for hospitality shines through in everything they do — Rosa Silveira from The Westin Toronto Airport and Katarina Deodata from Delta Hotels by Marriott Toronto.
✨ Meet Rosa Silveira – Laundry Lead, The Westin Toronto Airport
For 36 years, Rosa Silveira has been at the heart of The Westin Toronto Airport’s housekeeping team. Starting her journey in 1989 after immigrating from Portugal, Rosa began her very first job in Canada without knowing a word of English. Her dedication and commitment to excellence quickly stood out — her manager at the time even remarked that her work was “perfect every time.”
Since then, Rosa has become a cornerstone of the hotel’s laundry operations, leading her team with warmth, patience, and an unwavering positive attitude. To many of her colleagues, Rosa isn’t just a team member — she’s family. “The hotel has been like my school,” she shares. “It’s where I learned English, developed my skills, and now, it’s where I have the privilege of mentoring others.”
Her kindness and leadership have made a lasting impact, especially on new associates who, like Rosa, are starting their Canadian journey in hospitality. In 2023, Rosa was honoured with the Spirit Award for her exceptional contributions to the Housekeeping Department — a recognition that reflects her hard work, passion, and dedication to creating meaningful guest experiences.
When asked what she loves most about hospitality, Rosa says,
“Working in hospitality means creating meaningful experiences for others every day. It’s about teamwork, kindness, and genuine service — and that makes every day inspiring and fulfilling.”
Meet Katarina Deodata – Guest Experience Expert, Delta Hotels by Marriott Toronto
Over at the Delta Hotels by Marriott Toronto, Katarina Deodata is known for her warm smile and genuine passion for people. As a Guest Experience Expert, she thrives on the dynamic nature of hospitality — where every day brings new faces and fresh opportunities to make a difference.
“I love meeting different people, connecting with them, and creating memorable experiences during their stay,” says Katarina.
Her dedication to service excellence was recognized when she received the J.W. Marriott Spirit to Serve Award, one of the most meaningful moments in her career. “It was such an incredible reminder of the teamwork and dedication that go into providing exceptional service,” she reflects.
Outside of work, Katarina loves to travel — and her favourite destination is New York City. “The city’s energy is incredible,” she says. “With amazing food, endless things to do, and that cinematic feeling like you’re in a scene straight out of Gossip Girl — it’s unforgettable!”
Celebrating the Heart of Hospitality
Rosa and Katarina remind us what hospitality is truly about — people. Their dedication, compassion, and commitment to creating exceptional guest experiences embody the spirit of the industry and inspire those around them every day.
Congratulations to both of our November Faces of Hospitality!
