This February, we’re celebrating two remarkable professionals whose behind-the-scenes contributions and lasting impact truly embody the spirit of hospitality — Tran Nang Duc from The Westin Toronto Airport and Evelyn Keov from Hyatt Regency Toronto.  


Meet Tran Nang Duc – Steward, The Westin Toronto Airport

Tran Nang Duc has been a dedicated member of The Westin Toronto Airport team since 1981, bringing over four decades of experience, pride, and unwavering commitment to his role as Steward. While his work often takes place behind the scenes, Tran’s impact is felt throughout the entire hotel. 

Tran plays a vital role in supporting the associates who support guests, ensuring the Heart of House and Staff Cafeteria are always spotless, organized, and welcoming. His attention to detail, calm presence, and “never say no” attitude have set the standard for excellence for generations of team members. 

Often described as the father figure of the hotel, Tran is deeply respected for his professionalism, kindness, and generosity. He leads not by title, but by example – offering guidance, support, and a steady presence that makes everyone around him feel valued. 

When asked what he loves most about working in hospitality, Tran shared: 

“What I love most about hospitality is that every day is a new day. At The Westin, we don’t just work together, we support one another like family. Hospitality has taught me patience and kindness, and it’s about creating connections and understanding that work is a shared experience.”

Meet Evelyn Keov – First Cook, Hyatt Regency Toronto

Evelyn Keov has been a cornerstone of the Hyatt Regency Toronto since its opening year in 1990. Having joined the hotel in its very first year, Evelyn has proudly served as First Cook for 35 years – a testament to her dedication, skill, and passion for the culinary arts. 

From healthy salads and fresh pastries to beautifully curated VIP amenity charcuterie boards, Evelyn approaches every dish with precision, creativity, and care. Her calm presence in the kitchen, combined with her professionalism and artistry, has made her a respected role model within the culinary team and a trusted contributor to exceptional guest experiences. 

When asked about her favourite part of working in hospitality, Evelyn shared: 

“As a chef, my favorite thing is creating memorable experiences through food. There is something incredibly rewarding about transforming ingredients into thoughtful, handcrafted presentations that make guests feel welcomed and valued. Knowing that my work can elevate a stay and leave a lasting impression is what inspires me every day.” 

Outside of work, Evelyn dreams of traveling to the Netherlands, drawn to its rich culture and global significance, from the International Court of Justice to iconic tulips, windmills, and world-famous Gouda cheese.
