The purpose of this program is to prepare exceptional middle management employees to become career-ready candidates for senior leadership positions in the hotel industry.

TORONTO – (April 22, 2016) Five Hundred members of the Greater Toronto Hotel Association (GTHA) gathered on Friday, April 22nd, 2016 to honour exceptional Ambassadors in the region’s hotel industry. The fifth annual Spirit Awards Luncheon presented by the Greater Toronto Hotel Association recognized 212 nominees and 18 award winners for their outstanding contributions in our industry.
“It is with great pride that the GTHA celebrates the service, professionalism and innovation of these outstanding Ambassadors in the hotel community” said GTHA President & CEO Terry Mundell. “Their contributions to the visitor experience leave a lasting impression on the over 14 million overnight visitors to the Greater Toronto Area. Our congratulations go out to each nominee and award winner for their exceptional service to guests visiting GTHA member hotels”.

July 24, 2015 — The Tourism Industry Association of Ontario (TIAO) revealed yesterday its Board of Directors for 2015-2016. Newly elected to the Board this year are: Keith Simmonds, General Manager, Great Wolf Lodge; Steve Ball, President, Ottawa Gatineau Hotel Association; Ian McMillan, Executive Director, Tourism Sault Ste. |GTHA Speakers Series highlights Fire Code compliance - Wednesday, September 19, 2012|
Recently a group of GTHA members attended the GTHA Speaker Series seminar on Fire Code Compliance. The Ontario Fire Marshall’s Office led this update for Section 9.9 Hotels to provide information on the January 1, 2012 final phase of the 5 year compliance schedule and an overview of the updates since the schedule came into effect in 2007. |GTHA Announces the Carbon Calculator Program for Hotels - Wednesday, August 15, 2012|
The Green Key Carbon Calculator was developed specifically for the lodging industry in order to assist hotels in determining their carbon footprint. Carbon management can reap great economic and reputational benefits, not to mention the resulting environmental benefits. The Calculator allows hotel owners everywhere to capture these benefits at the individual, portfolio and industry level by measuring, reporting and reducing the carbon footprint of their operations.
