Four Seasons Toronto sold for C$225 million - Tuesday, October 04, 2016
Shahid Khan, the founder of Flex-N-Gate Group and CEO of the Jacksonville Jaguars of the National Football League and the historic London-based Fulham Football Club, announces that he has today arranged through various family holdings the purchase of a 100 percent ownership of Four Seasons Hotel Toronto from an affiliate of Kingdom Holding Company (KHC).

The Omni King Edward Hotel Set to Invest $6.5 million in Crystal Ballroom Restoration - Wednesday, July 27, 2016

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. has reached an agreement with Easton’s Group of Hotels to open the second Element Hotel in the Greater Toronto Area and renovate Four Points by Sheraton Toronto Airport.

As the oldest hotel in Toronto, the King Edward is steeped in history and tradition. Opened in 1903 at a cost of $6 million, the iconic hotel was built by George Gooderham, a developer and wealthy Torontonian. Sheraton Gateway donates almost $4,700 to SickKids Hospital - Tuesday, January 05, 2016
In late December, the team at Sheraton Gateway Hotel in Toronto International Airport visited the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto to present a cheque for $4,678.10.

The hotel team raised the money during the preceding four weeks through food sales at the employee cafeteria, bake sales, a spa day for associates and raffle from the hotel’s holiday celebration. Read more here.

Park Hyatt Toronto Presents Grant to Local School - Friday, December 04, 2015
The Park Hyatt Toronto presented William Tredway Jr. Public School in Scarborough, Ont. with US$8,000 to help develop nutrition education and programming.

The donation is part of the Hyatt Community Grants program, which encourages hotels around the world to identify and nominate local non-profits for funding consideration. Oxford Properties Acquires Park Hyatt Toronto - Friday, December 19, 2014
Oxford Properties is the new owner of the 346-room Park Hyatt Toronto hotel. 

The Toronto-based Oxford Properties purchased the property from an affiliate of Hyatt Hotels Corporation for approximately US$90 million, or US$260,000 per key. “Oxford’s acquisition of Park Hyatt Toronto is in line with our stated strategy of owning highly visible, luxury and upper upscale assets with prime locations in key markets with high barriers to entry,” said Michael Kitt, EVP, Canada, Oxford Properties Group. “We look forward to working together with Hyatt on a significant hotel renovation in line with the prestige of the brand and location.” Read more here.

Concord Hospitality to Surpass 100 - Wednesday, October 29, 2014
Concord Hospitality today announced that the company is developing its most ambitious pipeline in its 30-year history. The company has 12 hotels under construction from south Florida to New York City and is providing third-party management services for another five that also are in active construction. All 17 hotels will be managed by Concord upon opening. With the opening of these hotels, the company will surpass the century mark, 100 hotels under management, and open 12 hotels in as many months. InnVest REIT and KingSett Capital Acquire Interest in Fairmont Royal York - Wednesday, October 29, 2014
Mississauga, Ont.-based InnVest Real Estate Investment Trust and Toronto-based KingSett Capital have acquired 80-per-cent interest in the Fairmont Royal York hotel. Current owner, Ivanhoé Cambridge, based in Montreal, will retain 20-per-cent interest in the property.

More specifically, KingSett will control 60-per-cent interest in the property, while InnVest will control 20-per-cent interest and become the hotel asset manager, overseeing operations alongside Toronto-based Fairmont Hotels and Resorts. Read more here.

Essential pollinators can find a rooftop oasis amid the urban jungle

There's no doorman, but Toronto's iconic Fairmont Royal York Hotel is hoping a new structure will attract thousands of wild bees to its rooftop.

The "bee hotel" as the Fairmont is calling it, is a light green, freestanding wooden structure that looks like a large bookcase. On its shelves are bunches of sticks, soil and other materials that wild, pollinator bees — which normally live alone — can seek shelter in. Read more here.

2014 – Old Mill Toronto Celebrates 100th Year Anniversary! - Tuesday, January 28, 2014
Rich in charm and history.  The Humber River and Valley have long been a part of Canadian Heritage being discovered by Etienne Brule in 1615.  The King’s Mill was built along the river banks in 1793 to process lumber for the proposed town of York.  The new grist mill was built in 1834 and again in 1881 having been destroyed by fire.  On the first day of WWI in 1914 the Old Mill Tea Garden opened with the “ruins” as the focal point of the lavish gardens.  In 2001, those “ruins” were transformed into our boutique hotel and SPA, the latest addition to Toronto’s landmark restaurant, banquet facilities and entertainment venue. Omni Hotels and Resorts to take over Toronto's iconic King Edward Hotel - Thursday, July 18, 2013
Omni Hotels & Resorts has signed a deal to take over management and operation of Toronto's King Edward Hotel on Aug. 1 and acquire a stake in the landmark property.

The 110-year-old property will be renamed the Omni King Edward Hotel.

The Tourism Industry Association of Ontario is pleased to announce Josef Ebner as this year’s winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award, presented at the 2012 Ontario Tourism Summit in London, Ontario, Tuesday October 23rd. The award was presented by Michael Chan, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport at Ontario’s most prestigious tourism awards gala.
